Importance of NCERT Books in Competitive Exams

Most of the students fail to decide the right study material when it comes to preparing for the board exams or any other competitive exams. There are plenteous options available in the market, but still, many students end up choosing the wrong stuff that affects their performance.

The National Council of Education, Research and Training or popularly known as NCERT develops books starting from the students of primary and secondary levels. These books are highly useful for CBSE students because they cover the whole CBSE syllabus of class 1 to 12 and emphasizes the fundamentals of helping students with basic concepts. Furthermore, NCERT books are also very helpful for students who prepare for different competitive exams.

Role of NCERT Books

NCERT books are mainly used in the schools under the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). However, owing to its standard and vast information, many state boards also recommend NCERT textbooks as reference materials.

The books are written in very common and simple language with rich context, which makes them easier to understand in comparison to other boards. One can find a topic really quickly as all the NCERT books are written in a lucid manner.

It not only gives the proper knowledge but also saves time, and allows the students to learn more in a small period of time. NCERT books are now also available online in the form of e-books.

How NCERT books are helpful in Competitive exam?

Competitive exams are not like normal board exams. So, the following question banks and other reference books won’t help you properly. NCERT books can save you from this and will give you a profound knowledge about the topic you are reading. This makes your concept crystal clear and makes you able to answer any question from that context. In many competitive exams, some questions are directly asked from the NCERT books. 

NCERT books strictly follow the CBSE curriculum. Most of the government jobs or competitive examinations are also conducted on the basis of the CBSE syllabus from class 6th to class 12th. So one can cover most of the syllabus by just following these books.

Indian Administrative Service or IAS exam is one of the toughest exams. Lakhs of candidates from all across the country appear for it, but only a few are able to crack it. NCERT books cover most of the syllabus of IAS. History, Geography, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Culture or Fine Arts and Science these are the main subjects of IAS exam. For Common Entrance Test or CET, for Medicine and Engineering and also NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY CUM ENTRANCE TEST, famous as NEET, the basic subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Biology are needed to be followed. The NEET questions are also designed by following NCERT books. To crack other exams related to Government jobs like civil services, Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC), NCERT as well, books of class 7th to 12th are needed.

Joint Entrance Examination, commonly known as JEE is the most desired entrance examination for engineering. Most of the top engineering colleges in India accept admission on the basis of JEE mains examination. JEE exam is conducted by Central board. As the central board recommends NCERT books for 12th board exams, the syllabus of JEE is also fully covered by NCERT books.

So in most of the cases, the NCERT books are enough for covering the syllabus. The exams conducted by central government generally follows NCERT books. Central education board recommends NCERT books for its good standard. All the books are enriched with proper information along with a simple language to make the students understand the concept quickly. The pattern of covering the whole syllabus is quite impressive. One, who is preparing for competitive exams, either entrance examinations like JEE, NEET or government job-related exams like UPSC, MPSC can follow NCERT books without any hesitations.
