We all know that doing outreach may seem like a daunting and time-consuming task. And most of the time, it is. Especially the stage of finding all of the right e-mails. Sometimes you get lucky and your prospects show their email exactly where you would expect them to, like in their page’s footer.
Other times, however, you aren’t quite so lucky and have to invest some time just to find out that person’s e-mail address. And in this article, I’m going to share some tips on how to find desired e-mail addresses quicker and easier to launch a blogger outreach campaign for Promote Your Blog with Outreach.
Alright, this tip of starting to promote Your Blog with Outreach is rather basic. However, despite of how straightforward it is, talking to people can get you pretty far.
For medium and smaller-scale bloggers, the best way of contacting them would be tweeting. Find your prospect on twitter and shoot them a message!
“Hey, what’s the best way to contact you? I have a little question... “
would do just fine.
Twitter’s character limit doesn’t exactly encourage long conversations, but it is perfect for sending short messages like this one. It will also introduce you to the person you’re reaching out to and increase the chances of you getting a reply drastically.
Just make sure your Twitter account makes it clear who you are.
Advanced Twitter Search Filters
While we’re talking about Twitter let’s also discuss its advanced search filters.
Sometimes people tweet things like “e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org”, so that’s exactly what you’re going to be looking for.
Type in words like “e-mail”, “me”, “at”, “dot”, “reach”, “contact... You get the idea. If the person has ever revealed their personal address on Twitter, you’re more than likely to find it using this method.
Dealing with Bigger Companies
However, getting a reply from bigger companies using Twitter can be more challenging. Accordingly, you should adapt your approach to big blogs.
Most larger resources have contact forms that you can take advantage of. If your prospect’s site doesn’t have one, it is more than likely that it has a generic inbox for questions, offers and things of the like.
Use that contact form or message that inbox asking to contact your prospecting target. Since most of the time those requests are managed by support teams, you’re quite likely to get a reply.
As always, make sure that you make it clear who you are.
If your prospect’s website has a newsletter subscription option, you should definitely take advantage of it. Subscribe to their mailing list and take a look at the e-mail address which the newsletter will come from.
Most of the time those e-mails will come from a personal address. Reply to one of those letters with a question regarding their content and start building a little bit of a relationship with your prospect!
Sometimes the newsletter will come from generic addresses that don’t reveal your target’s personal e-mail. However, if you message the newsletter e-mail there’s still a chance your prospect will reply to you from their personal address.
Alright, alright, I know that this one might not seem like much of advice at all, but hear me out. If you know your prospect’s name and surname you’re very likely able to figure out their email address since most of the time they follow the same formula.
A lot of the time it will look something like: email@example.com
or any variation of that including surname first, name plus first letter of the surname or vice versa.
But hey! You don’t have to do all the guesswork by yourself. There are tools such as the Email Permutator + that make this entire process a whole lot easier!
Just type in your target’s name, last name, as well as the domain in the permutator, will work its magic, creating a neat list of every single possible combination.
Then, there’s the LinkedIn Sales Navigator, a chrome extension that shows if your permutations are associated with a LinkedIn profile.
To use it, compose a new e-mail and paste all of your permutations into the “To” field. Hover your mouse over each of them and Gmail will show you if your guesses are associated with Gmail accounts while the Sales Navigator does the same but for LinkedIn.
You can also paste your permutations into Google’s search to see if those e-mails have been mentioned on any sites. If they have, then your guess is very much correct!
This is definitely the easiest and fastest way of finding someone’s e-mail address. There is plenty of email finding tools available on the Internet. What you do is just type in your target’s name and website into them and the applications do all the searching for you.
Some of them are free and some aren’t but almost all of them offer a number of free searches per month and then if you need more you can pay for a premium subscription.
Although it costs money, if you want to achieve a high level of scale, it’s worth the investment. This type of investment is what allows blogger outreach companies like OutreachMama to deliver 1000+ links a month for their customers.
Two of the most popular email discovery Tools are Find That Email and Hunter. Both offer 50 free searches a month and their subscription plans start at $29/month.
But remember that they aren’t perfect and they might not be able to find all of your prospect’s e-mails. However, if you’re running a huge outreach campaign, discovery tools make finding hundreds of addresses much quicker than doing it manually.
So, definitely worth a try.
Search engines aren’t limited to Google. You’ll have to be using DuckDuckGo for this one.
If you type in “@domainname” into DuckDuckGo, the engine will reveal the addresses of all people registered on that domain. If they’re publicly available, of course. If you add your target’s name to the search, it will likely find them.
