Employees who do not receive training will be disadvantaged because they’ll have skills and knowledge levels far below their peers. In some cases, employees may get better work opportunities elsewhere if they are well-versed with new skills that can help them grow in today’s dynamic business environment, where technology is changing faster than ever before.

A huge amount of this cost is attributed to the loss in productivity after employees stay in an organization for some time but leave later on. There is no better way to reduce this than through ongoing training. The more you invest into keeping workers on track and productive, the less they will likely want to find employment elsewhere where their efforts may not be recognized as much. Making sure individuals feel like their work makes a difference can go a long way towards reducing attrition rates among staff members who might otherwise jump ship over something trivial such as being overlooked for a promotion they believe to be rightfully theirs.
